War Hill Park is located in Forsyth County not far off of highway 53 between Hwy 400 and Gainesville. The park has lakeside access from a three lane boat ramp with ample parking for vehicles and trailers. The ramp area has a small dock for loading and unloading.
off during the weekdays but will get busy over ther weekends. The park has a number of RV campsites and tent camping sites that are available on a first come/first serve basis. The campgrounds are primitive lacking water, electricity and restroom facilities although during the summer port-a-potties may be available. The park beach is wide and spacious with grassy areas and
sandy beach. The swimming area is well marked and while a lifeguard may not be present, there is some safety equipment available and the camp host site gener ally has a host available. Overnight camping fee for the park is $16 per night. Many of the sites are on the water and it is possible to tie up boats within ten/twenty feet of a campsite. When the fee is paid it is required that the site is occupied. Failing to
comply forfeits the fee, so it is recommended that you first select a campsite, then return to pay the fee at the camp host area across from the beach.
Larger RV vehicles will find drive through campsites available. Some have stairways leading to picnic areas. All campsites have tables, grills and poles to hold laterns. Picnic areas have a gravel surface and are level. All parking areas and campsites have paved surfaces. There is a central location for trash and garbage. Ammenities: Camping w/o hookups, restrooms, picnic tables, picnic ,boat ramp, swim area, user fee.
